NXNE

I just remembered that I have a blog and I feel bad that I haven't been reporting as often as I should.

Wednesday:
Waited outside the Courthouse for 4 hours as "guestlist"ers got in with no worries because they were guaranteed a spot inside before maximum capacity. So why would Arts&Crafts advertise this event publicly if they only allowed people in the guestlist in?...get your shit together. Finally got in at 12:20 am to see Broken Social Scene play an amazing set with Fiest. The wait was well worth it.

Thursday:
Pt 2 of the Arts&Crafts showcase. We saw Zeus, The Most Serene Republic, Timbre Timbre, Still Life Still, and The Stills.
Zues was amazing, I'm kind of in love with them rigth now. Aside from looking like a lumberjack, Timber Timbre played a sweet intimate set that really only mattered if you were within a meter from the stage, which I was.The singer of TMSR is kind of crazy but awesome because of it. I wasn't expecting much from The Stills, I only knew a few of their songs, but low and behold, they were pretty amazing. A very tight set, very impressed.

Friday:
Prime Band to see, No Age. We started out at the Whippersnapper to see Spiral beach and Matt&Kim. Spiral Beach was really good, those young bastards. They got the movin' with their hypnotic rock. Matt&Kim were cute. Kim went on about how she ate pad thai rigth after she landed and then shat like 5 times in 20 minutes, and said "I'm sorry if I throw up during the set." The crowd was forgiving. We then headed over the Lee's Palace where we saw Mika Miko (As dirty as they were, the punk bitches were really good), Dead Science (didn't like them. I didn't like how the lead singer moved, I found him annoying), No Age (just awesome), and of course King Kahn & the BBQ show (who doesn't love a tubby brown guy painted in gold who shakes his belly whilst rocking out as he wears a re turban? They were entertaining, random, and vulgar. loved it)

Saturday:
Final night. In the afternoon we watched a movie "I want that record" which was about the death (or possile survival) of the record store. It was good, I fell asleep because I was so tired, I wish I hadn't. Later on, we went to the Legendary Horshoe Tavern with hopes to see Jason Collett. We Woodpigeon ("if ou like Sufjan Stevens, you'll like them), DD/MM/YYYY (pretty good, I like the red balloons), Ruby Coast (they were cute, much like Tokyo Police Club), and of course Mr. Collett. He's hot for his age. Zeus backed him up and I snagged a sweet stop right in from of the keyboard monitor. Now I don't usually like moustashes but there is something SO appealling about this one guy in the band. Possibly because of what he was wearing...aviators, moustashe, black blazer with matching shirt/vest, light grey cheap mondays, and a sweet pair of tan leather shoes. I don't know, his confidence is just sexyness in a bottle. On the way out I spotted a couple members from The Stills...hot as well. We then headed over to Sneaky Dee's to catch Crystal Antlers, but the line up was way too long. We saw Adam in line who had the same intentions but the band was playing as we updated him with the show prior. And then we headed home.

Each night has been spectacular with their blasting chords and head bobbing. And we've made some new friends along the way. Adam, he's from Ottawa, he was in line with us for four hours on wednesday to see BSS. He came down to see the festival and some family. He's pretty cool, he wants to be and elementary school teacher. There was also this couple that we keep running into, who were also in line with us. I think the woman works for the Toronto Sun and he husband is Irish. And there's Zack. He's the cute merch guy at Arts&Crafts shows that we buy our t-shirts and posters from. He's also a photographer for Chartattack, which is pretty cool.

You can see his photos from BSS on the site,

www.chartattack.com

He also got one of his photos published on pitchfork, which is EXTRA awesome.

Overall an amazing week. Totally worth $50
